The 2024 Medical Response Surge Exercise (MRSE) was completed on April 03, 2024.  Participants included 44 hospitals, 3 long term care facilities, 2 hospital-based EMS providers, MED-COM and the Mississippi State Department of Health.  There were over 190 personnel involved in the exercise from the various organizations.  The MRSE is an annual Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) Cooperative Agreement requirement. It is a functional exercise designed to test and evaluate capabilities and functions in a realistic, real-time simulated environment. The exercise scenario must be designed to impact greater than or equal to 20% of required staffed bed types. The exercise is a source of performance data for HPP.  The MRSE also provides an opportunity to test plans and procedures for the various participating organizations so that those plans can be changed to better protect the lives of all Mississippians in a disaster.  We thank each one of the organizations that participated in the MRSE this year.
