The Pike County Healthcare Coalition (PCHCC) Community Chemical Drill was conducted October 18, 2023, in McComb, MS. Healthcare facilities as well as local fire and police departments responded to a simulated chlorine gas leak. Medical facilities in the Pike County area utilized their Emergency Operation Plans (EOPs) regarding lockdown procedures. The police department formed a perimeter to keep civilians away from contamination. The McComb Fire Department worked to stop the leak and performed gross decontamination procedures to the victims. The Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (SWMRMC) responded by conducting decontamination procedures and treating the wounded. The exercise was an overall success for all participating members and identified the gaps within their policies and procedures.
